Staff at Hodge Hill provide after school clubs for children from across the school but because we are such a large school, parents might not be aware of what we offer.
Below is the timetable of clubs up until the end of the Autumn term.
Letters have been sent out to parents with the details and asking for permission.
If your child would like to join a club please speak to either your child's class teacher or the staff member running the club. Each club will run for approximately 6 weeks. Once a child commits to joining the club we expect them to attend each session.
We ask that parents support staff by collecting their child on time at the end of the session.
Most clubs are free of charge but occasionally we have to ask for a small charge usually as we use external partners.
The range of clubs will change each half term, with some clubs running all year and other clubs running for a fixed time.
The intention is to offer at least 1 club for every year group over the school year.

Tutoring
All schools receive funding from the Government as we recover from the pandemic and the closure of schools.
We use this funding to provide targeted support during the school day across the school. Your child might speak to you about some of the adults they may be working with as well as their class teacher.
But we also provide focused tutoring after school. This tutoring is targeted at children teachers think will benefit from the extra support.
At Hodge Hill, we are very lucky as our own teachers see the benefit of this tutoring for our pupils and have agreed to deliver the teaching themselves. Our staff know that the unique relationships we have with our pupils can only benefit the children as we deliver this targeted support.
We are also very lucky as additional funding has just been released to schools which enables us to extend this tutoring to more of our children. This funding allows our support staff, who work with the children on a day to day basis to now deliver after school tutoring.
This tutoring means that groups of children are kept very small so the ratio between adult and pupil is low.
It also means that the learning flows from the day to day learning in class to the after school tutoring.
All tutoring takes place on a Monday after school while the in school tutoring happens every day.
Lots of schools have had to employ private tutors or companies or used a Government tutoring scheme whereas at Hodge Hill, our own staff have continued to put our children at the heart of all we think, say and do and are providing this tutoring themselves.
