Admissions

Admission Arrangements to Reception Classes for September 2019

Children must, by law, start school at the beginning of the term after their fifth birthday. However, at present, in Birmingham children are admitted in September at the start of the academic year in which they reach five years of age.

In October 2018 the parents of children who are due to start school will be sent a letter and a pre-printed form advising them of how to apply for a reception school place and where to obtain the primary information booklet.

Copies of the booklet are available at all Birmingham Primary Schools, Libraries, Health Centres, Children's Centres, Doctors Surgeries, private and Community Nurseries and also electronically.

Parents can also apply on-line at www.birmingham.gov.uk/schooladmissions or by completing the Local Authority Preference form which will be sent out during October.

Applications for primary schools opens on Monday, 1st October 2018.

The final closing date for applications is Tuesday, 15th January 2019.

National Offer Day 16 April 2019

  • Offers will be sent by email on 16 April 2019 by 5:15pm.
  • If you're happy with the school you have been offered, accept this offer by 30 April 2019.
  • Please do not contact Birmingham City Council before you receive the formal notification of your child’s school place. You must be in receipt of your formal notification email before contacting the council.

Accept the place offered

We strongly encourage you to accept the place offered to your child.

This will not affect your child’s position on any waiting lists for other schools you have not been offered a place at or any appeals you may submit. Accepting the offer will ensure that your child has a school place for September.

Waiting lists

Your child’s name will be automatically added to the waiting list for any higher preference schools than the one offered.

Being on a waiting list does not mean that a place will become available.

More information about waiting lists will be available after National Offer Day.

Appeals

After places are offered, you will have the right of appeal for any school you were refused a place at.

More information about appeals will be available after National Offer Day.

When to apply

Parents can apply for a place in the autumn of the year before their child turns 4 years of age. It’s important that you apply for a place as soon as possible. The final closing date for applications is Tuesday, 15th January 2019.

Our admission number is now 120 pupils and admission arrangements are based upon the local authority criteria, as specified in the Primary Education Booklet produced annually and available for download here.

If you wish to look around the school prior to making a decision on which school is best for your child then please contact the school office who will be happy to book an appointment for you.

In-Year Admissions

We currently admit 120 pupils in Reception to Year 6. If you wish your child to move to Hodge Hill PS in the middle of a school year then you must contact the school office on 0121 464 2189.

Grammar schools selective test results out on 12 October 2018

IMPORTANT: Please wait for your child's test results before naming a grammar school as one of your six preferences on your online application. If you submit your application with grammar schools listed and your child is not successful in the selective test, you will have reduced the number of schools you could list as preferences.

The Grammar Schools in Birmingham should send you the test results by letter by 12 October 2018. Once you’ve received your test results you should decide whether to name a grammar school as one of your preferences on your application form.

If you would like your child to attend our school please contact us or read more about our admission arrangements below.
