Spelling

Hodge Hill’s approach to spelling has been developed in accordance with the National Curriculum. Spelling rules from the National Curriculum are taught to each group during daily sessions; the spelling guidance outlines which rules will be taught each week. As well as new spelling rules, common exception words are also taught and pupils have opportunities to revise and recap on previous rules. There is an expectation that pupils use their spellings in their independent writing and pupils are given opportunities to do this after rules/words have been taught.

How can Parents help their children learning their spellings?
