Assessment
The Phonics Screening Check is designed to assess all 6 year olds to determine whether they have reached an appropriate level of understanding in blending words for reading. The phonics screening check uses alien words 
and real words
to assess how confidently children can blend graphemes to make words.
It does not assess children's ability to comprehend what they read.
Your child will sit the phonics screening check in the week commencing
Monday 12th June, 2023.
Children who do not meet the check in June will have
another opportunity to do so in Y2.
