Hodge Hill Primary win Gold in Cricket Competition

Message from Mrs Canny
As most of you are aware we took some year 5 and year 4 pupils to a cricket competition today at Walmley Cricket Club. There was a total of 16 teams all together and we had to play three other teams in our group. Hodge Hill were able to win all there games in the group. The first one was by four runs, second by 82 runs and final one by 76 runs. Even though we won our group it didn't necessarily mean we would get to the final as it was only the group winners with the most runs.

Sitting waiting for the results was intense and to our amazement we made the top two schools and we had to play Marsh Hill in the final. The final was amazing and I was very nervous watching but we beat Marsh Hill by 112 runs which meant we took home the GOLD MEDAL!

The whole team was absolutely amazing and all schools commented how well our team played - and how they represented Hodge Hill Primary.

We also had extra good news for Falak in 4A as she was scouted by Warwickshire cricket team and has trials for u11 & u12 team.

As we won the tournament today we have progressed onto the County finals in Edgbaston. If you see any of the year 5 boys and year 4 girls please congratulate them. They were:

CHRISTMAS CHARITY APPEAL - as described by one of our Year 4 pupils

On Tuesday 19th December, a charity called Trident came to our school. Trident help vulnerable people. At Hodge Hill Primary School we believe Christmas is not only about receiving gifts, but also about helping others. In our class we collected over 123 items and made decorated Christmas boxes filled with useful items such as toothpaste, chocolates, gloves, scarves, biscuits, sleeping bags and much more. We placed our boxes under the Christmas tree in the foyer. The school council worked together and reported that the whole school donated over 1300 items.

Some people are homeless because they have not paid their bills or had a fight with their family and do not have anywhere to live. Remember to never give them money, you can buy them something to drink and eat.
