How to apply for a Reception place
Admissions for Reception in September 2019 can be applied for by clicking here. The closing date for primary school applications for a place in a Reception Class for September 2020 is: midnight 15 January 2020.
We will be holding Reception Open Days on 13th and 14th November 2019.
School age - when can your child start school?
Reception is the first year of primary school. It comes after Nursery, but before Year 1.
Children in Birmingham can go to school (Reception) in the September after their 4th birthday.
If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016, they'll be able to start school in September 2020.
National Offer Day 16th April 2020
We strongly encourage you to accept the place offered to your child.
This will not affect your child’s position on any waiting lists for other schools you have not been offered a place at or any appeals you may submit. Accepting the offer will ensure that your child has a school place for September.
Your child’s name will be automatically added to the waiting list for any higher preference schools than the one offered.
Being on a waiting list does not mean that a place will become available.

After places are offered, you will have the right of appeal for any school you were refused a place at.

Parents can apply for a place in the Autumn of the year before their child turns 4 years of age. It’s important that you apply for a place as soon as possible:

If you wish to look around the school prior to making a decision on which school is best for your child then please contact the school office who will be happy to book an appointment for you.
In-Year Admissions
If you wish your child to move to Hodge Hill PS in the middle of a school year then you must contact the school office on 0121 464 2189.
Secondary School Admissions (for Year 6 Pupils)
You have until 31st October 2019 to carry out your research - read the guidance carefully and complete your preference form online by clicking here.
Offers will be sent by email on 2 March 2020 by 5:15pm.
You must accept or refuse the offers made by the deadline of 16 March 2020.
Waiting lists will be created three weeks following the offer of school places. Your child’s name will be automatically added to the waiting list for any higher preference schools than the one offered (unless your child did not achieve a high enough score in the grammar school selection test). Being on a waiting list does not mean that a place will become available.
