What are number bonds to 10?
Number bonds to 10 are two numbers that make 10 when added together:
0+10, 1+9, 2+8, 3+7, 4+6, 5+5
Some ideas for practicing number bonds to 10. If they can tell you the number bonds to ten challenge them to number bonds to 20.
1. “Make 10” Game

Give your child small objects (lego, beads, raisins)

Ask them to pick a number (e.g. 3)

Then ask: “How many more to make 10?”

Let them count to find the answer

1. My Hot Day Diary
Ask your child to draw a picture or take a photograph of what they did today. Can they talk about what they have done using full sentences?
Challenge: Write a simple sentence underneath.
Examples:

Encourage them to hear the sounds in words and write independently where possible.
2. Garden or Home Treasure Hunt Writing
Find:

You can also test your multiplication and division skills on Hit the Button - Quick fire maths practise for 6-11 year olds
Reading
Find somewhere cool and read your favourite book (20 minutes).
Writing
We have been completing work in writing based on the short film Alma. Over the last few days you would have written the story of Alma in your own words.
Your teachers would like you to write what happens next. This can follow on from the film or from the version you wrote at home.
Remember to include:
- Short sentences
- Pathetic fallacy
- Similes
- DADWAVERS (different ways of starting your sentences)
