Our Wider Curriculum

Our 21st Century Curriculum

What are we trying to achieve? (INTENT)

Mission

Every child questions their understanding of our 21st Century world and is equipped with the knowledge, skills and resourcefulness to those questions

Aims

We work alongside our parents so that every child will:

  • become a successful, engaged learner who enjoys learning and who is knowledgeable and skilled, makes progress and achieves
  • be a confident and articulate individual who leads a safe, healthy and fulfilling life whilst maintaining positive relationships
  • be a happy and responsible citizen who knows that they can make a difference in the world

Core Values

Putting children at the heart of all we think, say and do.

Intrinsic Values

Our intrinsic values are those essential values which are common to good, kind and tolerant people of all faiths and no faith

21st Century Curriculum

Core Knowledge and Understanding

An excellent general and  subject-specific knowledge which deepens understanding and promotes mastery

Skills and Competences

Excellent oracy, literacy, numeracy and technological skills. Excellent personal, social and emotional skills needed to maintain mental and physical well-being.

Attitudes, Attributes and Virtues

Positive, determined, adaptable, risk-taking, enterprising, self-regulating, emotionally resilient, tolerant, calm, aspirational, confident, independent

We have developed our own knowledge based curriculum where each half term we are focusing on a different subject area across the school. Each year group will be studying a particular area within each subject, so that there is clear progression across the key stages.  We feel that it is important that children are equipped with the correct knowledge, skills and experience to make a positive contribution to modern 21st century life.

Alongside this we teach music, RE, PSHE inc British Values , PE and computing weekly as discrete subjects.

We are committed to giving every child the best possible experiences. We arrange visits or invite visitors to provide the children with first hand experiences to increase their life experiences and help put their learning real contexts.

Have a look at what the children will be learning about during their time with us!
