The holy month of Ramadan is nearly upon us and we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Ramadan Mubarak. This year, the days are going to be long and hot and we are requesting all parents to support us in reminding our children that they are still very young to fast.
Year 6 children will also be undertaking their SATs tests during Ramadan and it is really important that no child gets up early or takes part in fasting during this week to ensure that they can all achieve their very best and put all their hard work into practice.
Of course, children love joining in with the festival and we encourage them to do so at weekends when they are at home and do not have the pressure of being in school. We are still working through our curriculum and this will continue right through to the end of the Summer Term (Thursday 18th July 2019). The heat, combined with thirst and hunger, will prevent our children from engaging in their studies if they choose to fast.
Previously, we have had cases of children being sick and feeling faint during the month of Ramadan. We are hoping we can prevent this and instead direct our children to focus on acts of charity and good behaviour, which are absolutely essential during this time.
We are not expecting any of our children to fast due to their age and we are sure you will fully support us in this.
If you wish to discuss this matter further, please make an appointment with the office staff to see me or Mrs Sherbaz.
