Art is cohesively taught through the thematic curriculum so that links can be made to make the learning experience authentic and knowledge can be acquired through the building of schema. The curriculum has been designed to stimulate pupils’ curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them with a mix of practical and theory to enable pupils to know more and remember more.

Art is linked to the curriculum units to ensure that our pupils make meaningful connections to understand how art reflect and shape our history and contribute to the environment, culture, creativity and wealth of our nation. Our pupils are exposed to a wide range of genres and styles.  Vocabulary is considered at every point of our pupils’ journey; they are encouraged to engage with and critique the work of others, as well as their own and are supported in using key terminology and language to tell the story behind the art.
