Year 4

Year 4 pupils Reading For Pleasure School Trip - 20th December 2017

Reading is a crucial and fun activity that pupils love to do in Year 4. Children are expected to read daily and sign their reading records. 13 pupils from each class were rewarded for reading daily this term, they visited Peter's Showroom, which feels like a magical palace filled with books. The pupils enjoyed story time, juice and biscuits alongside the opportunity to choose some wonderful books of choice.

Why read for pleasure?
Like anything else, reading is a skill that becomes better with practice. There are a range of benefits gained from reading for pleasure:

  • it increases sense of achievement, confidence, self-esteem and self-awareness
  • it widens horizons
  • you can do it anywhere
  • it develops relationships and promotes inclusion and empathy through sharing opinions and ideas
  • it prevents boredom and promotes relaxation.
Who will have the opportunity to visit next time? Will it be you?
