Nurture Group children “shine bright like a diamond"

 

Children attending Nurture Group (Mrs Hemming’s groups) have collaborated on a song which they performed today. 

The project, created by Mrs Hemming, was designed to enable children to develop skills such as:

·         Working together

·         Taking turns

·         Following instructions

·         Choosing a leader

·         Showing a positive attitude to others

·         Being positive about themselves and others

 

The song, Shine Bright like a diamond by Rihanna, was performed by a choir consisting of pupils from years 3, 4 and 5.

This is what the children had to say about their experience:

 

“It was brilliant! I had a fantastic time doing the song” - Yr 4 pupil

“Doing the song taught me friendship” Yr 3 Pupil.

 

The choir demonstrated their singing skills and made a brilliant version of the song, but what they were really learning about was how to work together, follow instructions and learn from their mistakes.

 

The objective of the project was not to teach children how to sing, but to support them with their behaviour.

 

This is what the group said about Mrs Hemming:

 

“Mrs Hemming is a really kind teacher” - Yr 3 pupil

 

“Mrs Hemming is an amazing teacher” - Yr 4 pupil.
